ITN Bioinformatics Group Wins Partners In Excellence Award

March 26, 2015

The ITN’s Bioinformatics Group (BiG) won Partners HealthCare’s Partners in Excellence Award for Leadership and Innovation for its accomplishments with TrialShare. This award recognizes BiG’s outstanding work over the past several years in developing this unique, multi-purpose clinical trial data platform. In addition to promoting clinical trial transparency by permitting public access to de-identified data and figures, TrialShare also supports internal operational work and serves as a collaboration tool to enhance manuscript preparation, review, and publication.

At present, ITN TrialShare provides participant-level data for 22 individual clinical trials with access to over 600 datasets, including analysis datasets and code supporting findings from seven ITN publications in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI) and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), among others. Although only publicly accessible since August 2013, ITN TrialShare already has over 600 registered public users and upwards of 50,000 page hits. The National Academy’s Board on Research Data and Information recently recognized ITN TrialShare, naming it as the first place winner in its challenge themed “Using Data for the Public Good.” Prior to that TrialShare received an honorable mention in the 2013 Bio-IT World Best Practices Awards.

Congratulations to Adam Asare, Tanya Antonille, and everyone on the BiG team!
